Virginia 70.3 Training Plan

What our coaches say about the course

Formerly Rev3 Virginia, this Ironman event will feature similar course and dynamics to the Rev event. The Chickahominy river is with the current and gets athletes out and onto the bike in a faster than usual time. We designed your course specific sessions (customized to your ability) to feature bricks that take you riding sustained uphill efforts in the aerobars similar to what you will see in Charles County. Going big in the BIG easy! We prepare our athlete with a plan that introduces course specific intervals for your ability to ride a flat and fast course. We have specific long ride prep for the two loop bike course that forces you to pace early and be able to unload onto the run and down "stars & Stripes BLVD."! Total training stress we will be crafted for you individual goals whether your first New Orleans 70.3 or hunting for a worlds podium spot. With the race being later in the year, temperatures can also be warm and our heat "acclamation" protocol will help you adjust to the humid conditions. —Adam Daniels, TSA Level III Coach

Mont Tremblant-70.3 Training Plan

What our coaches say about this course

A single loop wetsuit legal swim without any "drama" to worry about in the gorgeous waters of Elk Lake. One single loop of the coastline on the bike gets your legs slightly fatigued for the run but nothing too difficult if you stick to the Tristar plan. The total bike training load is slightly weighted in the plan versus swim and run stress to the training plan during the final build phases. Ironman Cozumel Training Plan

A quick swim and quick bike but you will have some conditions to contend with. HOT and windy.. still the flat course does lend itself to faster times if you are well prepared. Our Tristar plan features key bike and run sessions designed to simulate the Cozumel course conditions and demands. Athletes as part of this plan will receive a power course race file they can train and practice with either outdoors or indoors on their smart trainer. A very underrated Ironman that is one of our favorite courses as coaches here at Tristar Athletes. The hills keep coming on the bike and can really slow even the strongest of Ironmen and Ironwoman. This Tristar plan calls for vertical elevation training specific to this course with sessions that take you at and beyond the TSS required to ride well on this course. All sessions sync with your devices so you can learn to pace both the bike and run well. Santa Cruz Half Marathon Training Plan

WHAT OUR COACHES SAY ABOUT THE COURSE

...consists of a 13.1-mile run/walk along scenic West Cliff Drive past breathtaking vistas of the Pacific coastline. Runners then pass through the surrounding neighborhoods and make their way west along a paved path through strawberry fields, past historic farm buildings to Wilder Ranch Sate Park. From there, it’s a loop on the Old Cove Landing Trail (unpaved) with incredible views of the rugged ocean bluffs. For this Tristar race specific plan we have added quality training sessions in the aerobars due to the flat nature of the course.
