Coaching Bio
Ian Tovell
As long as Ian can remember he has always been an athlete. From little league baseball, to joining the cross country running team in 7th grade, Ian has always been a competitive person. Today, he is an accomplished triathlete who is looking to focus more on helping other athletes achieve their goals, and help them reach their potential in all aspects of the sport. Having been a coached athlete for the last 5 years, he knows how important it is to have a coach who can help you navigate your personal life and your triathlon life, all while achieving your goals.
Ian has been a triathlete ever since he can remember, competing in local kids triathlons from the age of 11. While he raced triathlons, his main sports were Cross Country and Cross Country Skiing. In both he has raced at the highest level, being a Junior Olympian in both sports respectively.
In college, Ian decided to focus on running and ran Division I at the University of Vermont. After two years racing, he decided to take a break from the high demands of being a D1 athlete and joined the UVM triathlon club where he raced at USAT Collegiate Nationals three years in a row.
After college, Ian continued to race triathlons and marathons competing all over the world in both. Ian finds peace when he is training no matter the discipline, and finds ways to incorporate this training into his and others busy lifestyles. He decided to take some time away from triathlons to find new athletic challenges. Ian knows how important a coach can be, and hopes to be the one that can help you reach new levels and new PR’s.
