Geography: Tristar Athletes Southwest
State: California, Los Angeles
Fun facts: Jonathan works hard, plays hard and is great at keeping perspective with his family. We at Tristar are lucky to share him with his family, friends and work commitments as time is certainly short! (We are always conscious of his goals and try to deliver more performance with less training time.)
Jonathan is the type of athlete that can rise to the occasion and take on big challenges even when most would turn back. Tour De Big Bear, Ironman Mont Tremblant have been just a few of his major recent conquests.…
Bio, goals and races tactics: Jonathan is currently in the middle of a season that is all about building speed and strength. He will be racing Santa Barbara long course and soon on deck Santa Cruz 70.3 where he hopes to beat his previous 2017 race time and set a new PR at the distance. Jonathan also raced the Cour D’Alene 70.3 earlier this year showing off his new capability as a faster entrance athlete.
Jonathan joining the Tristar Team three years ago has gone longer and at the same time set new PR’s in 2018 and 2019 at the Olympic and half ironman distances.
Trains smart…. VERY. Many seasoned athletes have a hard time knowing when to back off and ask the coach for help to see the “big picture”. Jonathan has been able to minimize sickness and injury to have an overall level of consistency that creates gains in racing and training.
Trains with a Wahoo Kicrk/Zwift setup to deliver his training peaks sessions with accuracy.
Races often; Jonathan races in the base phases to get more than what we could ever ask of him in training. While it’s not easy to race when you are not in “peak” shape, these races unlock far more down the road.
ELITE team member
Sticks to the plan - Hey training “it works”! Well, its not always easy to stick to the workouts day in and day out; it is Jonathans consistency vs imposing training free will that has gotten him where he is today. We can wait to see more great things to come.
